Psychic Development through Meditation
Psychic development through meditation, is one of the benefits to be gained from the extensive levels and practices of the various disciplines. You will experience great enjoyment, mental and physical well-being, from regular practice. I have been able to meditate on problems and find answers appear shortly thereafter. Following meditation on psychic matters, my awareness has been greatly enhanced.
All that I attempt in this article is to give a brief outline of a vast subject, and share some of my own learning and experiences with you, so that you may find your physic development enhances.
The purpose of meditation is to calm your mind and body until you are so relaxed, that everyday cares and concerns are at a level where they do not impose upon your thoughts. It is a state of mind, not an activity - something which is achieved by relaxing and not by 'doing'.
With regular practice, once or twice a day, you can derive many benefits in the quality of your life. In particular your health, relieving stress and strain and stabilising blood pressure. This will happen within a few hours or days of commencing your practice.
It is not necessary to pay to learn as the body, brain and central nervous system is designed for it to occur naturally. I will write about a few simple techniques in the articles listed below.
Some people, however, find that they have difficulty achieving results unless they join a group and have structured intuition. It is a personal decision. You will find it easy to locate groups in your area - listings can usually be found at public libraries, local 'free' papers, magazines dealing with psychic, mystical matters. There are also many holiday retreats incorporating meditation with other practices such as yoga, tai chi, etc.
There are many excellent websites, two I particularly like are www.crystalinks.com and www.abc-of-meditation.com.
To gain an insight into ancient origins, sites such as http://www.sahajayoga.org.uk and http://www.sivananda.org. on whose website I found the following interesting description:
When the surface of a lake is still, one can see to the bottom very clearly. This is impossible when the surface is agitated by waves. In the same way, when the mind is still, with no thoughts or desires, you can see the "Self" this is called "Yoga". We can control the mental agitation by two means: by concentrating the mind either externally or internally.
- Internally, we focus on the "Self" or the consciousness of "I am"
- Externally, we focus on anything other than the "Self" or "I am"
Unfortunately, as with most 'alternative therapies' there are people who dismiss the benefits. Their view is that it belongs to Buddists, sects, 'new age weirdos', people unable to deal positively (aggressively) with their lives. Thankfully these beliefs are slowly dispersing and belong to the past.
Many members of the medical profession recognise the benefits. Many Sports' Managers and Coaches integrate various methods into their training schedules, and forwarding-thinking businesses recognise the benefits of methods that reduce stress and pressure in their workforce.
Transcendental Meditation - founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - I learned this system 20 years ago and found it to be extremely beneficial, mentally, physically and spiritually
Om Mantra - the greatest of all mantras it is the representation of the Supreme Being, also known as the "Universal" Mantra
Mantras - are used in many forms of meditation, practised by Buddhists, Hindus and other cultures
I often find that if I am seeking a solution to a query or wishing to find an answer to a situation, 'enlightenment' dawns after I have meditated.
Regular meditation enables you to reach into deeper and deeper levels of the unconscious mind. It is here that we connect with 'The Astral Plane' the ‘Universal’ collective unconscious: that place where everyone of us are integrated on the deepest level of being
I hope that your journey is as exciting and fulfilling as my own I wish you joy, peace, happiness and good health
