First-year medical student Adrienne Hampton was awarded a $2,000 grant this week for her proposal to teach prenatal yoga to underserved women in Chicago. Hampton was one of 30 students to win the yearlong grant from the Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows Program, which promotes service learning for students in health-related fields. Kids learn the poses in classes that are catching on in Valley Sitting cross-legged in a crooked circle, 10 squirming preschoolers and their parents listen intently as yoga teacher Kira Willey of Bethlehem tells them to roll their heads and stick out their tongues. A not-for-profit organisation Yoga in the Community (YITC) is already employing yoga for this purpose. Sydney, April 12 (IANS) Yoga is finding a new role Down Under. Australian experts dabbling in this ancient Indian science believe it can help fight autism. It's quite a hike to reach David Lynch's painting studio.
